RUGBY WORLD CUP

A world cup tournament ever is a prolific element of any prolific sport. The rugby world’s tournament recently concluded in Japan was exemplary definite – amazing. Against the odds, the Africans laughed out last in the edition this year as the springboks of South-Africa presumed triumph; carrying home a coveted Webb-Ellis trophy; yess champions! Southafrica a great nation, great outfit always and occasionally providing the expected glimpses of brilliance, they did win the Rugby world cup tournament previously in 2007 and back in 1995. This 2019 victory was exuberant; taking for pride an African continent which for so many years has put up lackluster performances on different sporting fronts. So yess this Springboks victory in the 2019 world cup tournament is for the very life, the relevant and interactive element of Africa in the sporting fraternity.

Newzealand has been the other resound pompous nation in world rugby completing the consecutive double in the last two world cup tournaments with a triumph in England in 2015 and back home in Newzealand during the 2011 edition. the ” All Blacks” as is their referencial term in the world of rugby are a most dreadful matchup at the 15’s level, carrying on a trademark pre-game dance routine “the haka,” the Newzealanders have been emphatic, they have dominated and intimidated, their pre-eminent style of play has made them one of the fairest sides to watch at the 15’s level achieving a record 3 times champions status, they’ve been a handful for any opponent.

Rugby is a very fascinating sport on so many categories. For the guys especially; calling for an exhibition of high levels of masculinity and adrenaline; the nitty-gritty make-up of the sport is one that is crowded and high concentration. Proffessionally; the task, motive and knowledge objective of having to tear right through the defensive bodies of an opponent as is the game concept and the knowledge of facing an opponent seeking to return the favour can be quite bewildering; highly a full contact sport, rough, tough and rugged. Posited as one of the most demanding sports for its physicallity and masculinity.

At the individual margin, proffessional rugby requirement condition for a formulation of the aspects of boldness and assertiveness, a relentless courage; yess the rugby players are some of the most courageous sporting personnells with regard to the level of risk undertaken. The 80 running minutes of a 15’s rugby game gives the player 80 minutes endurance for possible fracture; skull, neck or spine damage directly, 80 minutes for possible brain or organ catastrophe. The nature of the sport is a fight, a good groupie, brutal, old school fist fight and so much more. Rugby is the real man’s game; bringing to fore that manlikeness, the hunger and desire to knockdown and annhilate an enemy, and sending to the far-back the destabilizing aspects of cowardice and second thought. This is the professional rugby 15’s aside game. This is the Rugby World Cup.

Very much presumed credit to the greats of world rugby. From recent history; preferred likenings to Newzealand’s great fly half Dan Carter; England’s world cup winning captain for 2003 Johnny Wilkinson and Bryann Habanna great winger for the springboks. These are a few that have harnessed the limelight as is the sporting culture. For the rugby 15’s aside game however, notable is the fact that the individual brilliance and the super-stardom that so easily acompanies other sectors of sport is very ellusive, far-fetched, unfeasible. The crowded field of play completely obliterates the individual sparkle allowing a more dug out team effort. Every score a team score, every play is team play. From the first kick and chase down to the first hit, tackle and scrum. It’s a complete team exhibition; with every roll, every tackle backup is most essential. You only take the hit knowing that you’ve got cover – a teammate lurking to protect and cover the ball; this is the humbling element, extremely unique. The recognition of a most vital importance of the most immediate teammate in a crowded setup gives rugby for a sport the distinct importance for nurturing high levels of team spirit and unity:- this is the only international sport today where a player cannot pull off a one man play regardless of how much he’d like to; and at the world cup stage nations are represented, great nations can be judged for 15 of their most courageous citizens. Its always more than a sport, more than a game.
